From June 30 to July 30, ethereum enthusiasts can submit their entries to the time capsule. These contributions will be securely encrypted by Shutter Network until they are revealed on July 30, 2026. The project was unveiled during the ethereum Community Conference (EthCC), highlighting the collaborative spirit of the ethereum community.

A Smart Contract for Collective Memory

The time capsule will utilize a smart contract that ensures all submissions remain confidential until the designated reveal date. Upon opening, these entries will be permanently recorded on the ethereum blockchain, preserving the community’s collective memories.

The initiative encourages everyone involved in the ethereum ecosystem—developers, users, artists, and visionaries—to share their experiences. Participants can submit stories about developing decentralized applications, humorous anecdotes, insights into future trends, and even creative puzzles or hidden treasures for future exploration.

Affordable Participation with a Purpose

Each submission will require a fee of 0.001 ETH, approximately $2.50, with all proceeds directed to the Protocol Guild. This organization plays a crucial role in supporting ethereum‘s ongoing development by funding essential research and development efforts.

The ethereum Time Capsule’s organizers emphasize that no one, including themselves, will have access to the submitted content until the time of unveiling. This guarantees that the community’s contributions remain untouched and authentic until they are revealed.

Loring Harkness, a key figure at brainbot and a contributor to Shutter Network, shared on social media that he has included a photograph of all EthCC speakers in the time capsule, adding a personal touch to the collective memory.
