Major Altcoins Poised for ETF Approval: Insights from Bloomberg

Growing Optimism for altcoin ETFs

Recent analysis from Bloomberg Intelligence suggests that the approval of spot ETFs for significant altcoins is increasingly likely. Analysts James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas have elevated the probability of approval for ETFs related to XRP, Solana (SOL), and Litecoin (LTC) to an impressive 95%. They anticipate a surge of approvals before the close of 2025.

Key Developments in ETF Filings

In a June 30 update, Seyffart indicated that the analysts now consider a variety of altcoin ETFs—including both single-asset and multi-asset funds—to have a strong chance of passing the SEC’s review process. With Rule 19b-4 filings already recognized and decision deadlines looming, the potential approval of Grayscale’s Digital Large Cap Fund (GDLC) on July 2 could serve as a crucial benchmark for broader acceptance of altcoin products.

Other Altcoins in the Approval Race

Following XRP, SOL, and LTC, other altcoins like Dogecoin, Cardano, Polkadot, Hedera, and Avalanche are also showing promising approval odds at 90%. Meanwhile, Sui stands at 60%, and the chances for Tron and Pengu remain at 50% due to ongoing regulatory uncertainties.

Three significant trends are contributing to this growing optimism: increased engagement from the SEC with issuers, the classification of major tokens as commodities, and recent ETF amendments that mirror the processes leading to earlier approvals for Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. Should GDLC receive approval this week, the focus will shift to single-token ETFs, with final decisions on Solana, XRP, and others expected between October and early 2026.
