ethereum Price Surges Past $2,800 Ahead of 10-Year Anniversary
ethereum has crossed the $2,800 threshold on July 10, marking a significant milestone as the project approaches its tenth anniversary. The cryptocurrency has seen an impressive increase of over 6.4% recently.
ethereum Hits $2,816 Before Slight Correction
Recent reports indicate that ethereum (ETH) reached a high of $2,816 on July 10 at approximately 7:16 AM UTC. This surge is notable as it is the first time the token has surpassed the $2,800 mark since mid-June, when it faced a downturn that prevented it from recovering until now.
However, this peak was short-lived, as the token experienced a minor correction, settling around the $2,790 range. As of the latest updates, ethereum is trading at $2,791, reflecting a 6.34% increase over the past 24 hours.
Market Capitalization and Trading Volume on the Rise
The recent price increase has positively impacted ethereum‘s market capitalization, which has risen by 6.37%, bringing it to approximately $336.9 billion. Additionally, the daily trading volume for ETH has surged significantly, with an 86.4% rise to $30.9 billion, indicating heightened market activity.
Over the past week, ethereum‘s value has climbed by 7.3%, while it has seen modest gains of 4.3% over the last month.
ethereum Foundation Transfers $2.7 Million to Internal Wallet
In related news, on-chain data from PeckShieldAlert reveals that the ethereum Foundation has moved 1,000 ETH, valued at around $2.7 million, to an internal wallet. This transaction took place at approximately 6:00 AM UTC on July 10.
Currently, the internal wallet holds about 14,000 ETH, equating to nearly $40 million. Earlier in June, the ethereum Foundation announced a new treasury policy aimed at ensuring long-term sustainability while fostering the growth of the ecosystem.
Historically, the Foundation has relied on holding its own ETH, but the new strategy will involve more frequent ETH sales to maintain a fiat reserve and expand its staking and DeFi initiatives.
Celebrating a Decade of ethereum
ethereum made its debut in the cryptocurrency world on July 30, 2015, with the launch of its first decentralized blockchain, known as Frontier. This marked the project’s initial live mainnet, which included the mining of the Genesis block.
Since its inception, ethereum has undergone numerous upgrades and innovations, with the latest Pectra upgrade being implemented on May 7, 2025.
